Residents are encouraged to have their say on Council’s 2024/2025 Proposed Budget, with feedback accepted up to 5pm Thursday, 16 May 2024.

The 2024/2025 Proposed Budget features a $22.862 million investment in capital works and an increase in revenue raised through municipal rates revenue that complies with the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System.

What is the 2024/2025 Proposed Budget?

A Proposed Budget is one of the key document Council produces each year. It outlines how Council will continue to provide the various services residents rely on and what capital works projects Council will invest in.

What are the highlights of the 2024/2025 Proposed Budget?

Some of the highlights of the 2024/2025 Proposed Budget include:

  • Continuation of support for key services Gannawarra Shire residents rely on.
  • A $22.862 million investment in capital works.
  • Investment in projects that will transform liveability, recreational and tourism opportunities for residents and visitors alike. This includes construction of The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra, Stage 2 of the Cohuna Waterfront and CBD Redevelopment, and the construction of a flood protection levee at Koondrook.
  • Funding for the development of plans for the redevelopment of the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools, based on information outlined in the Gannawarra Aquatic Strategy.
  • Continued efforts to maintain roads, bridges, buildings, footpaths, kerb and gutters, and drainage.
  • Efforts to repair roads and other infrastructure damaged during the 2022 floods.
  • Compliance with the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System, which states that the total revenue raised through municipal rates cannot increase by more than 2.75 per cent compared to the previous year.

All feedback received will assist with the development of the 2024/2025 Gannawarra Shire Council Budget, which will be presented at the June 2024 Meeting of Council, to be held on Wednesday, 26 June 2024.
